Another year of the Career Development Institute (formerly Project Life) kicked off on Friday, April 20. Montclair Fourth Ward Councilwoman Dr. Renee Baskerville was the keynote speaker. She emphasized the importance of being prepared and on time for their jobs, and to consider these positions as gateways that may open new doors in the future. Encouraging the students to grow their vision and look beyond the borders of Montclair for opportunities, she also cited the value of giving back.
Mayor Robert Jackson was in attendance and is a great supporter of this program and stressed the importance of workforce training. Superintendent of Schools Dr. Kendra Johnson took time out of her busy schedule to join the students in this endeavor and to wish them success. MNDC congratulates Dr. Johnson on her recent appointment as superintendent of schools.
Seventeen students were in attendance and will receive instruction on business, entrepreneurial skills, financial literacy, résumé writing, dressing for success, business plan writing, and more.
